Professor
Janice R Bellace is the Samuel A Blank
Professor of Legal Studies and Professor of Management. Currently she
chairs the department of Legal Studies and Business Ethics.
Prof Bellace is
Director of the Huntsman Program in
International Studies and Business at the University of
Pennsylvania. Prof Bellace joined Wharton’s
faculty in 1977 and has held various academic appointments. She was
Interim Associate Dean for Development from 1999 – 2000, Deputy Dean from
1994 – 1999 and Undergraduate Dean from 1990-1994.
Janice R. Bellace is
the founding President of Singapore
Management University (SMU). She assumed the presidency
in July 1999 and stepped down in September 2001. Prof Bellace
continues to be involved with SMU as a member of the Board of Trustees.
Prof Bellace was a
member of the Committee of Experts on the Application of Conventions and
Recommendations of the International Labor Organization from 1995-2010.
For more than ten years, she was the general editor of the Comparative
Labor Law Journal, and upon stepping down from that position in 1997
became a senior editor of the Journal. Active in several professional
organizations, she is the president of the International Labor and
Employment Relations Association and is on the executive board of the
U.S. branch of the International Society for Labor Law and Social
Security. Prof Bellace is a former Secretary of
the Section on Labor and Employment Law of the American Bar Association.
She is presently co-chair of the Public Review Board
of the United Auto Workers. Professor Bellace
is a member of the Board of Overseers of Koç
University, Istanbul, Turkey. She is also on the advisory board of the
Marco Biagi Foundation, University of Modena,
Italy.
Professor Bellace is
a member of the Board of Trustees of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital
in Philadelphia, and of the Methodist Hospital Foundation.
